LONDON (MarketsXplora) – Global multi-asset brokerage Vantage Markets said on Thursday it has extended a sponsorship deal with McLaren’s Extreme E electric off-road racing team for a third year as the series embarks on a new season.

Extreme E features male and female drivers battling in harsh terrain and remote areas to highlight climate challenges in a series that has forged high profile corporate partnerships since its 2021 launch.

McLaren’s Extreme E entry is sponsored by Saudi Arabia’s NEOM future city project and Vantage said its renewed backing underscored a shared agenda around innovation and environmental awareness.

“Our continued collaboration … underscores our shared commitment towards innovation, excellence, and leaving a positive mark in our respective fields,” Vantage CEO David Shayer said in a statement without disclosing financial details.

The deal extension coincides with Extreme E preparations for races across the Himalayan mountains, Amazon rainforest and along America’s Atlantic coastline as the 2023 season gets underway.

McLaren’s team sees the addition of two top drivers, Spain’s multi rally champion Cristina Gutiérrez and Sweden’s four-times World Rallycross winner Mattias Ekström, who will race the team’s electric SUVs.

Vantage, which offers trading in currency pairs, commodities and indices to retail and institutional investors from a network of offices worldwide, launched a related climate change-focused charity in 2022 donating to environmental causes.

The Vantage Foundation was kickstarted with an auction of racedriver overalls and car components from the McLaren squad.

As well surging interest in electric vehicles, motorsport is also pivoting more widely toward sustainable technologies like synthetic fuels to meet climate goals.
