BARCELONA (MarketsXplora) – Spanish football giant FC Barcelona has teamed up with China-based retail forex and CFDs broker EBC Financial Group in a new three-and-a-half-year partnership aimed at expanding the club’s reach in key international markets.
Under the exclusive agreement, EBC Financial will serve as FC Barcelona’s official Foreign Exchange Partner, with the partnership covering regions including Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
The deal marks a significant milestone for EBC Financial, aligning the Hong Kong-headquartered brokerage with one of the most recognized sports brands globally as it seeks to grow its presence beyond its core Chinese and wider Asian customer base.
“This partnership marks a significant milestone for EBC, aligning the brand with the respected legacy and global reach of FC Barcelona,” said Samuel Hertz, APAC Director of Operations at EBC Financial Group.
The partnership will see EBC Financial provide a range of services including foreign exchange transactions, trading, brokerage (including CFDs) and advisory services, leveraging Barcelona’s vast global fanbase to drive engagement and build a lasting presence in key overseas markets.
“Being able to forge a partnership with such a strong and respected brand as FC Barcelona underlines the groups ambition to always push ourselves to the highest levels of achievement as possible,” said David Barrett, CEO of EBC Financial Group’s UK subsidiary.
For Barcelona, the deal represents the latest step in the club’s global expansion strategy, which has seen it strike partnerships with leading international brands across various sectors.
“This partnership coincides with FC Barcelona’s global expansion plan in recent years, and I’m sure that this will help the Club open up a wealth of opportunities in the financial sector,” said Juli Guiu, the club’s Marketing Area Vice President.
The partnership also comes as Barcelona looks to capitalize on the growing popularity of its brand, particularly in emerging markets, as the club aims to drive commercial revenues and deepen its connections with passionate fans worldwide.
While Barcelona has historically been one of the world’s most recognizable football clubs, its partnership with EBC Financial underscores the growing importance of the Asia-Pacific, Latin American, Middle Eastern and African regions in the global sports and entertainment landscape.
“With the untapped potentials we see in the Asia Pacific region, as well as the growing economies in South & Central America, Mexico, Africa, and Middle East, we’re excited to build more connections with brands, partners, supporters, and Culers in these regions,” Guiu added.
